In Raising Hare, Chloe Dalton shares the unexpected story of rescuing a newborn wild hare after it is chased by a dog. Knowing that wild hares rarely survive in captivity, Dalton sets out to care for the fragile creature with the intention of eventually returning it to the wild. What begins as an act of compassion grows into an extraordinary bond as the hare becomes a regular presence in her life, roaming freely through the fields and woods at night and returning to her home by day. This moving memoir explores the relationship between humans and the natural world, the unexpected connections we form with wildlife, and the lessons that come from slowing down and paying attention to the world around us.
Join us for a thoughtful, community-centered discussion grounded in curiosity, observation, and connection to the natural world.
