Join us for a quiet, early fall day on the wooded edge of Lake Minnetonka with access to forest trails and the lake shore.
Forest bathing, Shinrin-yoku is the Japanese practice of immersing yourself in the natural environment to provide physical and mental well-being, using all five senses.
Kristen Mastel, lead librarian at the Arboretum’s Anderson Horticultural Library, is a certified Shinrin-yoku guide and will direct the class in a mindful session of Forest Bathing.
Fern Renville, an artist and activist and citizen of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate, will share her experience and knowledge of MN native plants that bring meaning and value to our lives.
Zan Tomko will present opportunities throughout the day in nature-based art, aromatherapy, herbal teas, and other sensory experiences.
This workshop will teach you models for deeper experiences in nature and ways to share the natural world with others. You will hone your naturalist skills in observation, sensing, and plant uses.
Please bring a sack lunch and drink of your choice.
This will be a phone free environment during the workshop.
Snacks, hot tea and ice water will be provided.
Rain or shine, dress appropriately for the weather.
