Join expert, author, Minnesota Master Naturalist Volunteer, Tanner Barnharst for a weekend at the rustic Hubachek Wilderness Research Center in Ely, MN, October 1-4 for a weekend of learning and fun. Each day, students will participate in a foray (or three) and learn about the lichens, mushrooms, and other living things they find.

There will be campfires, shared meals, beautiful views, and even a UV night walk! Participants will be staying in the rustic housing offered on site. All rooms offer single beds. You will need to bring your own bedding (sheet set, pillow cases, extra blankets or sleeping bag). Remember that this is northern Minnesota in October, so think warm sleeping bag and a nice blanket! We will spread people out to have single rooms as much as needed, but roommate options are available. Student rates are available. Rooms have either a shared bathroom or a shared bathroom in a separate building (up to ~100 foot walk on wooden decking with ~4 steps)

Lodging and all meals are included. Cost is $225 for general participants and $150 for students.
If the registration fee presents a barrier to your participation, please reach out to Kacey Tait at ktait@umn.edu for scholarship options.
