Love Trees? We Do Too! Tree Inventory Around Neill Lake

The Preserve Association is hosting Master Naturalists and community volunteers for National Public Lands Day to inventory trees around Neill Lake’s east shoreline. Volunteers will help identify and record tree species, diameter, and overall condition—essential data for evaluating The Preserve’s canopy health and preserving our natural landscapes. Data gathered will be used to create a woodland stewardship plan in partnership with the City of Eden Prairie Forester. Have iNaturalist downloaded on your phone. The Preserve will provide, bathroom, snacks, water access. Please bring: Please bring a 10-ft cloth measuring tape or DBH tape if you have one, smartphone with iNaturalist app, and any extra water/snacks you may need. Long pants and sleeves are recommended as some areas have thickets of buckthorn and honeysuckle. Please be aware you will be surveying near a wetland area. The ground will be muddy, and waterproof shoes (rain boots or waterproof hiking boots) are strongly recommended. If you already have iNaturalist app downloaded, please join The Preserve Tree Inventory project in advance. Instructions for joining a Project can be found here (https://help.inaturalist.org/en/support/solutions/articles/151000222533-how-can-i-join-a-project-).
