Cloquet, MN 55720

Join Kalvin and Rachel Stern of Fiddlehead Knob for a hands-on field day designed to help you confidently identify common Minnesota mushrooms. Throughout the day, you’ll explore mushroom morphology, identification techniques, and considerations around edibility.

This immersive learning experience includes hiking, guided observation, and a chance to practice spore printing.

Please dress for the weather in comfortable, layered clothing suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities, and bring appropriate footwear for hiking.

Fiddlehead Knob is a fourth-generation family farm in Southeast MN. After nearly a decade of commercial mushroom farming, they are embracing a new chapter rooted in wild food, traditional skills, and community. Kalvin is certified through the Minnesota Mycological Society and has been foraging wild mushrooms and other wild foods for nearly 15 years. Through education, wildcrafting, plant medicine, and homestead skills, they hope to help others cultivate a deeper connection and stewardship to the land.
