Bog plants get a lot of attention by those of us who enjoy the wild and wacky adaptations those plants must have to survive the uniquely harsh environment found within bogs. Many of these plants also play host to some equally amazing insects! This Advanced Training will spend some time learning about some of the truly unique bog-specialist insects that are found in this region and beyond. We will then take some time to do some bog-stomping and find some of those interesting bugs ourselves! Plan on getting off trail during this field trip! Rubber boots or water shoes will be useful. Bringing an extra pair of shoes for use in muddy areas might also work great for our day. There will be indoor and outdoor portions to this class, with investigations of species taking place in and out of the field. Plan on bringing lunch and any other snacks/water you may need for the day.
