Join expert, author, Minnesota Master Naturalist Volunteer, Tanner Barnharst for a weekend at the rustic Hubachek Wilderness Research Center in Ely, MN, October 2-5 for a weekend of learning. Each day, students will participate in a foray and then learn about what they are finding. There will be campfires, shared meals, formal presentations, and even a UV walk! Participants will be staying on site in the rustic housing offered on site. All rooms offer single beds. You will need to bring your own bedding. Remember that this is northern Minnesota in October, so think warm sleeping bag! We will spread people out to have single rooms as much as possible, but some rooms will have to be shared. Some locations have bathrooms, some have a shared bathroom and others have an outhouse nearby.

We will provide breakfast on 2 mornings, and supper on Friday and Saturday nights. You will need to be prepared to feed yourselves the other meals. A full kitchen is available with refrigeration and all kitchen supplies for your use. Bring your own food to prepare meals as needed. Plates, silverware are also onsite.

Plan to pack: Outdoor gear: sunscreen, hiking boots, thick socks + extra socks, pocket knife, water bottle, rain gear, hats, gloves, layered clothing to stay warm Learning gear: notebook, writing utensil(s), field guides, UV flashlight (if you have one) Art supplies, camera, etc. Personal: Clothing for outdoors and casual wear, a towel, medications, and toiletries Food: Snacks, 1-breakfast, 3-lunches, and beverages
