This is part of a 3 part series of basic ID courses. It is intended to provide a firm foundation to prairie plant identification for participants.

We will cover basic plant biology and the unique adaptations of prairie plants, how plants are categorized as well as important tools and resources for successful plant ID. We will spend about 1/2 of our time in a restored prairie near the nature center and will travel up to 1 mile on turf/paved trails. This course is focused on the process of plant ID vs. how many we can ID..

The course cost is $12 and includes course manuals and supplies.

Instructor Information

Anne Jaeger

Anne has been an outdoor educator for over 25 years and is known for creating adventuresome and safe learning experiences for people ages 3 to 93 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies, is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), a Leave No Trace (LNT) Master Educator, PSIA Nordic ski instructor and is currently fascinated with mushrooms. Her world travels have taken her from the rivers and eskers of the Arctic Circle to the mountains and glaciers of Patagonia.
