VOL - Volunteer Stewardship Project: Buckthorn Removal
Volunteer Stewardship Project: Buckthorn Removal website
113th St SCottage Grove, MN 55016
Come help out at Grey Cloud Dunes SNA, a dry prairie and savanna overlooking the Mississippi River. We will be removing invading buckthorn that is crowding out the native plants on the site.
Tools, instructions, and good camaraderie will be provided. Bring water, snacks, and dress for working in the weather. Footwear appropriate for outdoor work/hiking is recommended. If you have your own gloves you'd like to use, please bring those as well. There are no public restrooms nor access to drinking water on this site.
Prior to the event, please watch the Buckthorn Blaster Training Video and take the Buckthorn Blaster Volunteer Quiz. This will allow you to use buckthorn blasters to treat cut stumps. Please email sna.dnr@state.mn.us once you've completed the training and to register for the day. Registration in-advance is required.
