National Public Lands Day 2024 is a statewide event that provides unique opportunities for Minnesota Master Naturalist Volunteers to participate in our largest single day of service. Locations across the state will have MNats and others out helping to make Minnesota a better place!

Friends and family are welcome to participate but must be registered to participate. Everyone will sign a photo release upon site registration. All participants will receive a free NPLD branded item and a day pass to a national park as a thank-you for participating.

As part of the celebration of NPLD, we will plant mast-bearing shrubs, into a meadow opening at Camp Ripley’s Ruffed Grouse Management Area (RGMA). This will be at the South unit/parking lot. These plantings will provide an important food source for ruffed grouse, American Woodcock, Wild Turkey, and other game and non-game wildlife, including pollinators. The planting density and design has been carefully laid out for ideal spacing between thickets.

- Join GRG and Camp Ripley as we partner to co-host this event on National Public Lands Day. Meet Master Gardeners and Minnesota Master Naturalists.

- This site is open to the public for hiking and hunting. The trails go well beyond our project area and are lightly used, meaning most times you can have the site to yourself. - Come out and get oriented to the trails and learn about the plan for the planting site and beyond.
