Come out and help us remove invasive buckthorn at Avon Hills Forest SNA. The task for the day will be pulling young buckthorn, before it gets too large to remove by hand.

This SNA is characterized by rolling topography which supports extensive hardwood forest dominated by oak trees. The landscape is dotted with wetlands and lakes featuring lowland plant communities such as tamarack swamp and black ash seepage swamp.

Tools, instructions, and good camaraderie will be provided. Bring water, snacks, and dress for working in the weather. Footwear appropriate for outdoor work/hiking is recommended. If you have your own gloves you'd like to use, please bring those as well. There are no maintained trails, public restrooms nor access to drinking water on this site.
