Lichen bike, Trails, Keys, and Monitors, lichens have been blazing trails in Minnesota this year. Welcome back to Cedar Creek Eco Reserve where we started. First, The MN Lichen Map will take you on the inaugural MN Lichen Trail at the Ney Nature Center via Google Earth! Bio-scientist Tanner Barnhart will teach the Keys to MN Lichens and help you sort out the many members of this family. Dr. Natalia Mossman-Koch returns to give an update on the U of MN Lichen Monitor Project. Dr. Daniel Stanton will guide participants in constructing three educational Lichen Monitor stations. Enjoy artwork from the LichenART Journal Workshop. It’s a busy day, but save time to explore the Cedar Creek Reserve lichens

Instructor Information

zan tomko

Always balancing between art and horticulture, Zan taught computer graphic design at Illinois Central College, Peoria High School and American Indian OIC. Previously, she was a program manager in horticulture and conservation for Fon du lac Park district in East Peoria, IL, where she promoted U of I Master Gardener & Junior Master Gardener programs. Before that she was a staff photographer & editor at State Farm Insurance, Illinois Farm Bureau and Illinois Audubon Magazine.

She has a bachelor’s degree in K-12 Art Education from Eastern Illinois University and a Masters in Fine Arts Photography from Illinois State. She has MN teaching license, Master Gardener’s designation from Purdue and University of IL and is currently a horticulture student at Hennepin Technical College.
