VOL - Minnesota Historical Society Invasive Plant Species Removal Vol Opportunity

Minnesota Historical Society Invasive Plant Species Removal Vol Opportunity website

27160 County Road 2
Comfrey, MN 56019

The Minnesota Historical Society is looking for a group of volunteers (up to 20) to help on July 15th with an invasive plant species removal project at Jeffers Petroglyphs in south central Minnesota.

Jeffers is a bit of a trek from the metro (about 2.5 hours), but the beauty of this specific site, and it's significance I believe make it worth the trip.

We plan on the day to start at 10 am and go until 2 pm to remove invasive plant species surrounding the petroglyphs site.

MNHS will provide garden hoes, gloves, water, treats, and lunch for the day. We will have sunscreen for volunteers as well.

Dress for the weather and the terrain, we advise long pants and sleeves.

"Tribal groups, including the Dakota, Ioway, and Cheyenne, continue to honor the Jeffers Petroglyphs site as a sacred space, just as their ancestors have done for thousands of years. Visitors learn about the unique stories, histories, and Native American cultural connections at this important site and surrounding landscape."
