Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory
Dates: June 10, June 24, July 8, July 22, and August 12.

Where better to take the North Woods, Great Lakes course than right on the shores of Lake Superior with Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory? The historic University of Minnesota Limnology Lab in Duluth, Minnesota will be our basecamp for a field-oriented class. Each session we will travel to explore new ecological community types in the Duluth region in the peak of their productive summer season. You will learn about the fascinating geology, plant and animal communities, inland lakes and bogs, ecology and human interactions of the Northwoods, as well as how Lake Superior impacts and interacts with these ecosystems.

The course will run from 9 am to 5 pm every other Saturday for 5 sessions beginning June 10 and ending August 12, 2023. Field trips will be incorporated into the scheduled class days. A capstone project is expected of participants and will be completed in small groups, with possible projects suggestions provided by the instructor.

The course cost is $295 and includes course manuals and supplies.

If the course cost is a hardship, please fill out the scholarship application. After the scholarship is fully processed, you will receive a code to be entered in the on-line registration process. Please wait until you receive that code to complete registration.
