VOL - Seed Collection at Spring Creek Prairie SNA

Seed Collection at Spring Creek Prairie SNA website

Spring Creek Prairie SNA
Red Wing, MN 55066

Join us in collecting native prairie seed at Spring Creek Prairie SNA to aid in a prairie restoration at Cannon River Turtle Preserve SNA.

Enjoy this site ranked as having outstanding biological diversity, while you help in restoration of other important sites. The SNA features broad bluffs that rise to narrow ridge tops then slope down into wooded ravines. Two native plant communities predominate, dry bedrock bluff prairie on the southwest-facing slopes and oak-shagbark hickory woodland on north-facing slopes and ridgetops.

Advanced registration is required, and the event will be capped at 25 attendees. To register, please email sna.dnr@state.mn.us. We want all visitors to feel safe and welcome. Please consider wearing a face covering when unable to maintain 6-feet of social distance.

Tools, instructions, and good camaraderie will be provided. Bring water, lunch, and dress for working in the weather. If you have your own gloves you'd like to use, please bring those as well. Footwear appropriate for outdoor work/hiking is recommended. There are no facilities on this site.
