National Public Lands Day is the single largest day of service for the Minnesota Master Naturalist Program. There are 16 sites across Minnesota providing volunteer service for conservation efforts.

Chester Woods is hosting a day of collecting native prairie seeds that will be used in Olmsted County Parks for prairie restoration. This is a golden opportunity to learn about prairie plants and seed collection while spending time immersed in nature.

Bring Water, gloves, mask and a hat. Please wear closed-toed sturdy shoes for uneven terrain.

Last year during NPLD, volunteers collected bags of 30 different forbs and grasses. These were distributed on various prairies in Chester Woods Park to enhance the ongoing restoration efforts.

All volunteers will receive a free national park day pass and a t-shirt! Family and friends are welcome to participate but will need to sign up to receive t-shirt. They can create a visitor account to register.
