Are you curious about the natural world around you? Join us at Eastman Nature Center nestled in a mature maple-basswood forest for the Big Woods/Big Rivers course. This is the perfect setting for hands-on learning about the geology, ecology, plants and animals of the deciduous forest and its associated waterways. This course runs Sept. 8th through Nov. 10th, Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:30PM. Two field trips are also required. Monday, Sept. 19th field trip will be to Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge. Saturday, October 8th field trip will be to MN Valley Wildlife Refuge and Fort Snelling State Park to discover the geologic and cultural aspects of the rivers. Completion of a capstone service project and attendance at all sessions is required.

Instructor Information

Anne Jaeger

Anne has been an outdoor educator for over 25 years and is known for creating adventuresome and safe learning experiences for people ages 3 to 93 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies, is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), a Leave No Trace (LNT) Master Educator, PSIA Nordic ski instructor and is currently fascinated with mushrooms. Her world travels have taken her from the rivers and eskers of the Arctic Circle to the mountains and glaciers of Patagonia.
