Fungal interactions and soil carbon: Lunch with a Scientist website

Join life-long learners online OR in-person for a monthly lunch and learn series at Cedar Creek. Bring your lunch and hunger for knowledge, we will provide the brain food! Dr. Peter Kennedy returns to Lunch with a Scientist this month to present his lab’s most recent findings about the role of interactions among different groups of fungi on the decomposition of different kinds of organic matter, particularly fungal mycelium itself. This work, which is based largely at Cedar Creek, is focused on determining how the abundance of ectomycorrhizal fungi influence both how fast fungal mycelium decomposes and where its carbon ends up in soil. In-person participants are invited to join Dr. Kennedy for a mycology walk after the livestreamed webinar!
THIS PROGRAM WILL BE BOTH ONLINE AND IN-PERSON. To sign up for the online webinar go to: http://z.umn.edu/LWASonline. The in-person program will take place at the Lindeman Research and Discovery Center (2660 Fawn Lake Drive NE, East Bethel MN 55005); the livestreamed webinar will be followed by a mycology walk with Dr. Kennedy.
