Volunteer opportunity at Como Lake, St Paul, MN
Do you love ice fishing, winter photography, tracking, or climate-related data collection? Engage elementary students in a study of ice! Classes of 30 students will be walking to Como Lake to explore winter ecology through measuring snowfall and ice thickness, looking for signs of wildlife, and possibly being introduced to winter nature photography and/or ice fishing, depending on skills of volunteers and equipment availability. Volunteers are needed to facilitate a learning station for a group of 10-12 students on their subject of interest, help gather and set up equipment, and/or test ice safety on the lake ahead of time.
January 13-28.
- We will be at the lake from 1:30-2:30pm on Thursdays and Fridays, January 13, 20, 21, 27, and 28.
- Commitment to 2 or 3 days during that time window is most helpful (eg three Thursdays, or one Thursday-Friday week). Or join us for all 5 days!
