Explore the Big Woods, Big Rivers in the rolling Avon Hills of Central Minnesota. We'll spend the week learning in the Saint John's Abbey Arboretum as well as visiting a few other Big Woods sites in the local area, as well as the Big Mississippi River. Expect to learn much from the instructors and guest presenters as well as each other. Topics will include spring wildflowers, deciduous trees, local geology, stream and river ecology, and wildlife ecology. Days will be busy with a combination of classroom learning and outdoor field trips.

All participants will work towards completing a capstone project over the course of the week. The 40-hour course will run May 21-25. Daily schedules will vary to take advantage of weather, guest presenters, field trips and natural occurrences. Plan for two evening sessions (Tu and Th) to allow for a shorter day on Friday, May 25.

Lodging and meal options may be available on campus for the week at an additional cost. Check our website for details - Website.

The course cost is $275 and includes course manuals and supplies.

If the course cost is a hardship, please fill out the scholarship application and send it to us.
