ADV - Listening Point Sigurd Olsen
Ely, MN 55731
"I named this place Listening Point because only when one comes to listen, only when one is aware and still, can things be seen and heard”. This land on Burntside Lake was so named as a “listening post for the wilderness” by Sigurd Olson.
Spend the fall day in the “footsteps of Sigurd Olson”, Minnesota’s premier Naturalist and Wilderness Advocate. The day will include Sig’s writing shack, his home, and the Listening Point cabin. This year is the 55th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act and Olson’s role in making this into law will be shared, along with his writings and the colorful fall foliage of Mountain Maples and golden Tamarack against an old growth forest of conifers.
The Listening Point Foundation and the Ely Field Naturalists will help host the morning to Sig’s writing shack, and Listening Point on Burntside Lake. Participants are invited to bring along your favorite Olsen readings as well.
