The EmpowerU program helps master volunteers, woodland and shoreline owners, and natural resources professionals grow their skills to meaningfully engage decision makers about invasive species.

Participants will learn skills needed to share information with decision makers, give input on policies and plans, and be an active voice in land management around invasive species. You will complete approximately 8 hours of self-paced learning over 4 weeks, followed by a one-day in-person workshop.

Online course (opens on June 8): Videos, readings, and listening and writing assignments in the online course will prepare you to participate in a day-long capstone workshop. 8 learning modules will take approximately 1 hour each to complete. Though the course is self-paced, instructors recommend taking 2 modules per week in order to complete the required coursework before the capstone workshop.

In-person day-long workshop (July 13, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Cloquet Forestry Center): You will go deeper into some topics, practice what you have learned and have time for questions with your co-learners and instructors.

Lodging is available at the beautiful Cloquet Forestry Center! Rooms include linens. $40/night single or $60/night double. You can come early as Thursday and stay through Sunday. Lodging can be booked at this link: Cloquet Forestry Center Lodging Registration

If you are also participating in the Invasive Blitz workshop and have booked lodging through that class, there is no need to do it again.

The course cost is $50 and includes course manuals and supplies.
