Take a deep dive into the wonder and value of our MN Big Rivers and Big Woods in this metro course offering! Learn the plants, animals, history, geology and ecology of Minnesota’s Deciduous forests and waterways that have been cherished for thousands of years. This unique schedule includes seven (7) evening sessions at the Baker Near-Wilderness Settlement of Baker Park, a full-day Saturday field trip in specially selected metro locations and an overnight weekend immersion tucked in a cabin at The Baker Near-Wilderness Settlement. (May 18-19th). Attendance at all sessions is required! You do not want to miss it!

Course fee includes lodging and meals for the May 18-19th immersion weekend at Baker Near Wilderness Settlement. Saturday students arrive by 1:00 PM, participate in classroom sessions, capstone planning and social time around a campfire. Sunday morning includes another session and we wrap up by noon. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the lodge and are included in the fee.
Lodging is RUSTIC - this means that there is no electricity or traditional heat in the cabins. Lanterns and wood stoves with wood are provided to each cabin. Participants bring own bedding and toiletries. Flush toilets and one shower is available on site.

Field Days Sat April 27th 9am-4pm and May Sat 18 1pm - Sun 19th 12pm at Baker Near-Wilderness Settlement of Three Rivers Park District Required 40 hours of classroom and field experiences with capstone project.
The course cost is $420 and includes course manuals and supplies.

Anne has been an outdoor educator for over 25 years and is known for creating adventuresome and safe learning experiences for people ages 3 to 93 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies, is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), a Leave No Trace (LNT) Master Educator, PSIA Nordic ski instructor and is currently fascinated with mushrooms. Her world travels have taken her from the rivers and eskers of the Arctic Circle to the mountains and glaciers of Patagonia.
