Join staff from USFWS at Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge for this year's NPLD 2018.

Description of work: Volunteers will be assisting with Oak Savanna restoration - removing woody invasive species (i.e. buckthorn). Volunteers will help with cutting and stacking. Invasive removal around pollinator gardens might be a possibility.

Special tools or equipment: Volunteers should come prepared with closed-toe shoes and long pants.

Need: Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting an Oak Savanna Celebration in conjunction with National Public Lands Day. There will be goats on-site to demonstrate one way to restore habitat. MN Master Naturalist Volunteers will help with demonstrating another way to restore habitat.

Britt Forsberg

Britt Forsberg is the program coordinator for the Minnesota Native Bee Atlas, a citizen science program developed to create an open, comprehensive database of native bee species in Minnesota. She uses her experiences leading youth and adults in inquiry science and the outdoors to help guide students to the realization that anyone can be a scientist. Britt holds a BA in Biology and Environmental Studies from Gustavus Adolphus College and an MEd in Family Education from the University of Minnesota.
