VOL - Swift SWCD Water Festival-PresenterAmbush Park, 2400 Atlantic Ave
Benson, MN 56215
The Swift SWCD Water Festival has been an annual event for the past 10 years. This event targets local 5th and 6th graders. Approximately 200 students are expected from the Benson and Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg schools. Students move between different learning stations. Each presentation time is 25 minutes and is generally given 4-7 times throughout the day. Student group sizes average 15. Each station is outdoors. Picnic tables are used for student seating. If needed, there is water and electricity available. Demonstrations or props of any kind are useful. The best stations are those that are interactive or get the kids moving around. Looking for multiple volunteers. Hoping to add stations on aquatic invasive species, forestry/trees, and soils. Station topics are flexible and can be volunteer's choice.
