Minnesota Master Naturalist Big Woods, Big Rivers Class at Robert Ney Memorial Park Reserve

Join us to learn more about the Big Woods, Big Rivers biome at the Wright County Parks Environmental Education Center west of Monticello in the heart of the BWBR. Come learn about the plants, animals, history, geology, hydrology and ecology of Minnesota forests and waterways.

You will gain valuable tools for exploring the natural world and sharing it with others, and we will spend significant portions of each class outside learning and practicing those skills. The course runs from May 1 to May 6, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday 8:30 AM to noon. One all-day (Thursday) and four short field trips are included in the schedule and will feature Wright County parks and Lake Maria State Park. Participants will do a capstone project as teams - project suggestions will be provided. Graduates then volunteer 40 hours each year to remain an active Master Naturalist Volunteer.

Meals are on your own – we do have limited kitchen facilities (microwave, small refrigerator). Lunch will be provided on for the all-day field trip on Thursday.

The course cost is $275.00 and includes course manual and supplies.
