Native prairie seed hand-harvest. Volunteers will spend the morning at Big Stone Lake State Park, and after lunch we will work at a nearby US Fish and Wildlife Service waterfowl production area. We will provide an orientation at each site, bags and other equipment needed to harvest seed, and training on how to identify the target plant species we would like to collect.

What to know: Please bring your own lunch, snacks, and drinking water (there are no places to get anything close). We will be walking off trail so long pants and closed-toe shoes are recommended. Other personal gear to bring: sunscreen, hat, and bug spray. If you have your own gardening/leather gloves, hand pruners and buckets/paper bags for collecting seed you are welcome to bring those (to minimize the need to sanitize equipment before and after the event). Participants MUST pre-register all people participating by Sept 18. You will need to bring your own, Gloves, boots, long sleeves/pants, pruning saw, water bottle, snacks, etc. Please have a mask along, so that when social distancing is not possible, you can wear it. (during sign in, breaks, etc)
