Conservation science addresses issues where action is critical and the consequences of failure are great. As result conflict is often associated with and may be a fundamental aspect of protecting and restoring biodiversity. Effective conservation therefore demands an ability to successfully handle conflicts. How can handling conflicts in conservation be accomplished? This semester’s speakers for the UMN Conservation Science Seminar Series are invited to explore the theme ‘Conflicts in Conservation’ in their work in a series of talks that range in focus from species to ecosystems.

This week's seminar will be available as a webinar through Zoom. Jessica Hellman from the University of Minnesota's Institute on the Environment will speak on controversies and barriers in the practice and uptake of conservation interventions: What we know about them and what scientist can do to overcome them
